Getting the most out of your tasting

This is the best part. You’ve looked around, seen how we do things, and now it’s time to taste the wine. If you’ve never stepped foot inside a tasting room we understand if you feel a little apprehensive. Relax, we’re stylish but very casual. We take wine seriously, but that doesn’t me you should. Unless you want to. Then we’ll show you how to swirl a glass (that’s to release the aromas), sniff, taste and spit. Yes, spitting is a good thing. We’d like you to keep a clear head! We’ll recommend wines for your favourite foods, give you hints about food and wine matching and answer all your questions.

To maximize the experience we suggest:

• Avoid wearing scent – men, that applies to you too! You won’t be able to smell the wine properly and it may bother others.

• Toss away the gum and mints before you taste.

• If you’ve just eaten, clear your palate with the water and bread we have on hand at the bar.

• Try different varietals but go from lighter to heavier wines, whites to reds - we can guide your selections if you’d like.

• Keep track of wines you taste on your travels by jotting down a few notes.

• Put a cooler in your trunk for wine purchases.

• Trust your own personal taste. Buy what you like and don't worry about the hype.

And please, travel with a designated driver who won’t be drinking.
