Meet Inniskillin

A brick pathway winds through a lush garden with blooming white hydrangeas and vibrant autumn foliage, leading toward a vineyard in the background.

Our Story

Canada’s first estate winery, Inniskillin, is internationally renowned for its award-winning wines and for its pioneering role in establishing the Canadian wine industry. On July 31, 1975, its founders made history when they were given the first winery license in Canada since Prohibition. Inniskillin came into prominence on the global stage with its win at the 1991 Vinexpo, in Bordeaux, France, when the Vidal Icewine was awarded the highest Grand Prix d'Honneur, changing the way the world sees Canadian wine.

Our Winemaker: Nicholas Gizuk

For Nick, it’s the smallest details in winemaking that make all the difference—like a spotless winery. He identifies with the moody and relentless red Cabernet Franc. Like this flexible grape, Nick is set to adapt to the future of winemaking and all it may bring. His passion for the craft is what carries him through the challenging times because it’s not all just tasting wine.
