Girls Day Out
TRIP PLANNER
The group chat is going to wine country.
We’ve planned a day out for you and your besties filled with fun, fresh wines and Instagrammable moments with lots of activities along the way.
MORNING KICKOFF
Trius Winery & Restaurant
Vibe: The most photogenic tour in NOTL. Start with bubbles.
Staff Pick: Sparkling Rosé
Largest underground sparkling cellar in Canada and a tour filled with photo-worthy moments: a fountain, gardens, a glitter staircase.
Château des Charmes
Vibe: French countryside château complete with a lavender field.
Staff Pick: Blanc de Blancs Sparkling
A literal castle on a working farm, run by the same family for seven generations. Relax and escape with a glass of Champagne-method sparkling wine or try out their Aligoté (the only parcels of this Burgundian grape in Niagara).
Book the Lavender & Vine Tasting Experience at Château des Charmes
Explore the Lavender & Vine garden at your own pace, take in vineyard views, and enjoy a glass of sparkling wine in a commemorative take-home glass, plus a $5 retail voucher for the boutique.
Niagara Hidden Gems & Things to Do in NOTL
“They have the most amazing baked goods. The most amazing muffins that you will ever eat.”
Chios
1630 Niagara Stone Rd —Virgil
Whether you're fuelling up before the first tasting or catching a second wind, this is the coffee stop.
“You’ll always remember that little piece of Niagara-on-the-Lake every time you spritz it on.”
Orris Labs
129 Queen St —Old Town
Make your own custom perfume, led by a passionate (and fun) guide. Walk-ins run about fifteen minutes, but if there's a group of you, book ahead for an even better group session.
HERE’S YOUR AFTERNOON
The Hare Wine Co.
Vibe: Manicured gardens and courtyard craft markets.
Staff Pick: Hare White Blend (Gewurztraminer & Riesling)
Though the winery opened in 2016, it is a striking property made from reclaimed 100 year-old bricks. In the warmer months, it’s gardens surround each patio table. Walk into their incredible courtyard where they often host markets and events.
Shiny Apple Cider, home of FRESH Wines
Vibe: Pretty in pink and ready to lounge around
Staff Pick: Rosé Sangria
The palate-cleanser stop. Craft ciders and easy-drinking wines built for enjoying the moment, not sitting in your cellar. The tasting room is newly renovated and looks like the living room in our dream house.
Where to eat in Niagara-on-the-Lake
“Any of their gelatos are always amazing. My favourite one is the mango — or any of their macarons.”
Nina Gelateria & Pastry Shop
37 Queen St — Old Town
Two different Konzelmann staffers independently named Nina’s as their favourite spot in town. What to order? Why asked them that, but we got a list of about 12 different things, so I think you’re on your own.
“The food is delicious, the service is amazing and I always have a great time when I’m there.”
Twisted Bar
1502 Niagara Stone Rd —Virgil
Finish your trip with a fiesta. Lots of shareable options and fun cocktails (assuming you’re ready for a bit of a wine break). Fresh flavours and a chef who doesn’t go light on the ooey gooey cheese.
